Dissolution of Marriage
Dissolution of marriage is a lesser known option for ending a marriage than divorce and it achieves the same result. The main difference between dissolution and divorce is that in a dissolution it is the spouses who agree on how to divide assets and set the terms of ending the marriage rather than the court imposing its terms.
A dissolution of marriage is typically best suited for an amicable end to a marriage, as it requires both spouses to agree on every issue. If this is possible, then dissolution of marriage could save you time and money compared to the more traditional divorce.
